Frances Stark
Artists' book published in conjunction with show held May 12 - September 2, 2007 at the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands. "The book you're holding is intended as a companion to 'Collected Writing: 1993-2003,' which reproduced previously published texts by Frances Stark. Being Frances Stark myself, I can say that while the book accurately manifests 'my voice,' it misses half the picture, no, all the pictures. This is an attempt to show a parallel production of works which are tricker to reproduce, works not 'written,' yet which take writing, reading and voice as their primary point of departure. I have made things, shown them, taken their pictures and sold them. They have atomized into collections but, until now, have never been collected." -- from book's colophon.
