An artists' book with reproductions of drawings and paintings by Enzo Cucci. The book is an ode to Italy's mythological identity, which Cucci explores in his fantastical, highly contrasted charcoal drawings and colorful paintings. A poem by Cucci entitled "Italia" is also included in the book, the final stanza of which reads: "Italia! Lofty, with a weighty head and short truncated tail, this animal has a melancholy air, is vulnerable, quick to take offence. Like painters ... but beautiful to all men everywhere." Seven color reproductions of Cucci's paintings are accompanied by a list of titles, while the black - and - white drawings are full page and unnamed. Book is staple-bound down the spine and glued to a hard cover. Texts in English and Italian.
