Carol Cole, Irene Tsatsos

The Bubble Blower

description

A highly produced, over-the-top, artists' book / monograph of works by Carol Cole - comprised of drawings, with related texts, from 1976 - 1977; and sculptural works from 1998 - 2005. Edited by art historian, Cornelia Lauf, her preface reads "... 'The Bubble Blower' is a suite of drawings that tell the story of a breast that tucked its nipple in. There are thirty-six drawings, five series of seven, plus one, that sticks out. Cole calls it the 'Grand Finale.' They are dedicated, for the most part to writers. About half are Southern. Life's vagaries meant that Cole did not take up the theme of the breast again, or even art-making, until fifteen years later. In 1991, she re-started, but this time in three dimensions..." Book also features an essay by Irene Tsatsos, and a very soft, pillow like, cloth covering with metallic flakes in a pink sea.
