Camera Art

description

Exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with show held at the Ben Shann Art Gallery at William Paterson College, New Jersey, December 1 - December 31, 1974. Organized by Les Levine. Essays by Gregory Battcock and Les Levine. Artists include Vito Acconci, John Baldessari, Chris Burden, Dennis Oppenheim, William Wegman, and Les Levine. Includes artists' biographies and checklist of the exhibition. "The artists in this exhibition were chosen to adhere to the criteria of artists using both photographs and video tapes extensively. It is clearly understood that this exhibition does not represent entirely all of those using both of the above media. it is not the purpose of this exhibition to act as a survey of art of this nature. This small group of artists were chosen to represent the diversity of interests and attitudes of the large number of artists using the media of still photography and video tape. Video tapes by each of the artists in this catalog will be broadcast over the campus network daily for the duration of the exhibition." -- organizers statement
